Habits are learned ways of living. In the same way righteous habits are acquired so are unrighteous habits. Biblical counseling is not taking Bible verses, reducing problems to theological cliches and applying it to a psychological theory. Paul gives Timothy a four step process for change that pleases God.

Hopelessness is a common feeling of people with psychiatric labels. They have been blinded by a psychiatric diagnosis and are told they must learn strategies to cope with their problem. Giving them hope by helping them see clearly is the goal of Biblical counseling.
